Have a go art workshop

On Friday 26 July 2024, Bury Drop In guests were invited to have a go as part of a creative project, organised by Lucinda Meredith, community producer at Primadonna festival. The workshop featured have a go at watercolour painting, poetry and printing. Guests were encouraged to produce a watercolour painting of a landscape or seascape using images to inspire them; learning how to mix colours to achieve different effects. Over on the poetry table, guests were guided to write a poem about the environment and how they relate to nature. Extract from a poem: “If I were a cloud, I’d float out of view…then quietly fall like a leaf from the vine.”

Lucinda Meredith said: “Creativity from all of our community is at the heart of Primadonna Festival which has to be one of the friendliest, inclusive and most accessible literature Festivals going – the talent at Bury Drop In is off the scale and we hope to see many more drop in guests become involved in the wonderful network of events in the region – always a pleasure to drop on and meet new folk and familiar faces at Drop In”.

Painting, prints and poetry created by guests featured at the Primadonna festival held in the beautiful setting of the Food Museum, Stowmarket, Suffolk over the weekend, 26-28 July 2024. It is hoped that the work will be exhibited in Bury St Edmunds library later in the year.
