Drop In Inspires Student Futures at Annual Progression Fair

Abbeygate Sixth Form College opened its doors to opportunity last week with its highly anticipated student progression fair, welcoming a wide range of universities, employers, and local organisations. The event aimed to empower students with insight, inspiration, and practical guidance as they plan their next steps after sixth form. The festival included a talk to students about work experience opportunities and a progression fair that saw students engaging directly with professionals from various industries, educational institutions, and charities.

“This event is all about working together in partnership,” said Ally Gill, marketing and communications manager at Bury Drop In. “In the past, we have welcomed students from West Suffolk College who have demonstrated excellence in both work and transferable skills.”

Local charities and volunteer-led organisations, including Bury Drop In, also took part, highlighting the importance of community engagement and the value of voluntary work in developing key skills.

Gabriele, volunteer befriender, West Suffolk College Work Placement added: “As part of my work placement, I have been volunteering as a befriender for a few months. I get to help people even if it’s not much. Volunteering makes me feel happy that I was able to help vulnerable individuals.”
