Gain valuable work experience – volunteer for Bury Drop In
Are you looking to gain valuable work experience. Come and volunteer for a charity supporting homeless and vulnerably housed people. We have previously welcomed a number of students from West Suffolk College, who have demonstrated excellence in both their work experience and transferable skills. You do not need any experience of volunteering, all we ask of you is that you are over 18, and are compassionate, identify with our values, friendly and reliable. To find out more, click here to view our strategic plan 2023. We provide a welcome induction which includes information about our vision and strategy, as well as specific safeguard training.
Sessions open at 11am and close at 1.30pm, we ask that you come along at 10am to join us for a briefing before the session begins. We realise that you may need flexibility around timings and length of your work placement – we are happy to discuss your requirements and tailor your experience to your needs.

Benefits of volunteering for us
- Provides industry specific skills
- Increase confidence
- Flexible placement
All of our work placement volunteers are provided with ongoing training and support. We provide you the opportunity to shadow other volunteers to give you the chance to experience the role firsthand, gaining insights into the tasks performed and understand the responsibilities that come with the role.
As part of my work placement, I have been volunteering as a befriender for a few months. I get to help people, even if it’s not much. Volunteering makes me feel happy that I was able to help vulnerable individuals.
