Trustees

The board of trustees strategically oversee the management and administration of Bury Drop In. Trustees bring their own unique skills and life experience to the charity. Retired Baptist minister, with over 40 years experience working with volunteers. Co-founder of Bury Drop In chairing the steering group that brought the charity to birth. Robert took on the role of chairman from 2021.

Having spent 30+ years in procurement and supply chain management, David joined the steering group in 2015 and later took on the role of Chairman and CEO from 2018 until stepping down in late 2021. David remains very active in the charity.

Retired teacher (Head of English). Lead for Learning and Teaching and Assistant Head. Jackie has been with the charity since it started. Jackie is our designated safeguarding lead; maintaining and updates procedures and policies, as well as delivering safeguard training to all volunteers.

Janet became a volunteer at the Bury Drop In in 2019 after she retired from a career in IT and moved up to Suffolk, taking on the role of Kitchen Manager soon afterwards.  She catered for many Youth camps over a period of 30+ years and ran the kitchen at St Mark’s College at Audley End (a Youth and Conference Centre) for 3 years.

Accountant for over 40 years, running own accountancy practice for the last 25 years, served on the governments VAT advisory group for 5 years. Nigel acts as the charity’s treasurer, audit accountant and produces quarterly reports.

Worked for 6 years at IBM and then left to bring up a young family. Anthea owned and run a successful equestrian retail business, as well as project managed 4 new-build houses in the last 20 years. She has always had a heart for the plight of homeless people ever since having many chats with a local homeless man when she was a teenager. Anthea has a hands on approach as reception manager; reporting on registered guests, donations, and volunteer hours.

40 years experience as a senior manager in business and industry, 30 of which were at company board level. 7 years as a trustee of a homeless and housing charity, 2 years as part of a winter night shelter leadership team.

Mike worked in the benefit system for both national and local government, giving him valuable experience which he makes use of when liaising with the agencies that attend Bury Drop In to help and advise our guests.

David joined the charity as a volunteer in 2023. He retired and relocated in 2021, having worked for organisations of all sizes on the financial, systems and operational aspects of them, primarily in the area of logistics. He was a qualified graduate accountant. During COVID, he was the community development lead for a church in Bury Lancashire where they worked with the homeless and vulnerable, he also worked alongside the council and other organisations in the area of rough sleeping and those at risk of losing their accommodation and was Chair of Bury Homeless Partnership and was on the Greater Manchester Homeless Action Network Advisory Board.
