Come along to our drop in sessions

Bury Drop In serves people who are homeless and vulnerably housed.  Our guests include the street homeless, rough sleepers, those in temporary accommodation and ‘sofa-surfers.’  We also care for people who were homeless guests but need some support to avoid falling back into homelessness.

Drop In Sessions

Our drop in sessions are held weekly, Tuesday and Friday, 11am-1.30pm, at Trinity Methodist Church. We work closely with West Suffolk Council Rough Sleeper Service and NHS Health Outreach; they regularly attend our drop in sessions. They seek to ensure clients experiencing homelessness are aware of the housing and health options available to them and offer support.

Emergency provisions to street homeless include:

  • tent and sleeping bag to people until they can be placed into emergency accommodation and shelter
  • pre-paid emergency food vouchers
  • mobile phones starter kits to hand out to guests who need to connect with vital services such as a GP, probation, job centre and social services
  • working in partnership with Abbeycroft Leisure, Coin Op launderette and the Salvation Army – we provide clean clothing, toiletries and a shower.

If you are street homeless or at risk of becoming homeless

We work closely with West Suffolk Council Rough Sleeper Service and they regularly attend our drop in sessions. They are focussed upon assisting those who are street homeless or at risk of becoming so. They seek to ensure clients experiencing homelessness are aware of the housing options available to them and offer support in respect of housing pathways, either directly or by referral to relevant agencies.  Contact the West Suffolk Rough Sleeper Service on 01284 763233 / 763252 (emergency out of hours).

If you see someone sleeping rough

If you are concerned about someone sleeping rough you can report them to StreetLink. This enables people to send an alert about someone sleeping rough to the local authority that can help to end their homelessness. Visit www.streetlink.org.uk
