On Sunday 25 October at 3.30pm a special evensong service will take place at St Edmundsbury Cathedral, Bury St Edmunds, to celebrate Bury Drop In and the work they do supporting homeless and vulnerably housed people. The service will include prayers to remember the lives of those who have died in the past year from the Bury Drop In community.

Bury Drop In is a Christian Charity, supported broadly by churches across the town and sustained by numerous local businesses, volunteers and organisations, including West Suffolk Council and Bury Town Council, that exists to care for and serve the homeless and vulnerably housed in Bury St. Edmunds.

The Very Reverend Joe Hawes, Dean of St Edmundsbury, said, “For the past eleven years, Bury Drop have been providing a warm welcome, hot meals, advice and support to the homeless and marginalised community in and around Bury St Edmunds. Founded on Christian principles, but welcoming all, the Drop In is a sign of hope and advocacy for all to have the dignity of a safe place to call home.”

The Rev’d Robert Green, chair of trustees at Bury Drop In, says, “We deeply appreciate the support and prayers across the town. Occasions like Evensong at the Cathedral enable us to tap into our Christian roots. It’s also an important moment to remember those of the drop in community who have died over the last year. It is an occasion of reflection and hope.”
