About Us

Bury Drop In serves people who are homeless and vulnerably housed. Our guests include the street homeless, rough sleepers, and ‘sofa-surfers.’ We also care for those in temporary accommodation (e.g. hotels and hostels) and people who were homeless but need some support to avoid falling back into homelessness.

We are currently serving up to 50 guests per a session. We provide twice-weekly drop in sessions, every Tuesday and Friday at Trinity Methodist Church, 11.00am-1.30pm. In addition to offering a healthy nutritious meal, support and signposting to local agencies such as the West Suffolk Council rough sleeper service and NHS Health Outreach, we hand out emergency provisions to rough sleepers including tents, sleeping bags, toiletries, mobile phones, clothing and food vouchers.

In October 2018, we launched an alternative giving campaign called “Looking for Change” in Bury St Edmunds, with support from the West Suffolk Council, Our Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk Constabulary and Bury St Edmunds Town Council. The campaign encourages people to help the homeless by text or online donations.

In September 2019, we introduced a self-help progression group called Table 1 to progress individuals using the drop in to become more independent and to develop their daily living skills.

We are registered and regulated by the Charity Commission for England and Wales, registration number 1165258. While we are a Christian-based charity, our services are open to all.
