Current volunteer opportunities

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, we’ve temporarily suspended the recruitment of volunteers at Bury Drop In.
Keep an eye on @burydropin on Facebook and @BuryDropIn on Twitter, and we'll let you know when we're recruiting again.

Who volunteers for Bury Drop In

We rely heavily on our devoted team of volunteers, who come from all walks of life. Every role is different and involves welcoming people at reception, befriending guests, and helping with pubilicity events including the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Lights Switch On event. You do not need any experience of volunteering, all we ask of you is that you are over 18, and are compassionate, friendly and reliable.

Why volunteer for us

People give up their time for a number of reasons including:

•  Meet new people and make friends
•  Learn new skills and improve your CV
•  Give something back to your local community
•  Help make a difference to the lives of homeless people and those with housing needs in Bury St Edmunds.

What can you expect

Bury Drop In offer a vast range of volunteer opportunties. For most of our roles, we ask for a minimum of 5 hours per a month. You can volunteer for as many sessions as you like if you want to. All of our volunteers are provided with ongoing training and support, and the opportunity to shadow current volunteers so that you can find out what role suits you best
