How your donations help

Steve was abandoned by his mother at the age of 6 and placed into foster care, where he spent a long period in and out of various foster homes. From the age of 15, he became involved with drugs, and at the age of 16 he went to prison for the first time. Steve has spent many years homeless, sleeping on the streets and in hostels, surrounded by drug users.

When Steve was offered a placement at Tayfen House, a hostel in Bury St Edmunds, he had a key worker who gave him the support to help him to achieve and believe in himself.

Today, Steve has got his own place and is studying at college. He has made new friends that care about him. Donations received from our Looking for Change alternative giving campaign have enabled us to buy a laptop for him to use for his studies. Your donation could help someone like Steve.
"Today, I have got a good life. I attend the Drop In. They have helped me in so many ways."
Bury Drop In respect everyone who comes to us for help, and many are working towards a fresh start in life. So while our stories are true, guest names have been changed to protect privacy. Thank you for understanding.

Ways to donate to Bury Drop In

Bury Drop In is a charity working with homeless people and those with housing needs in Bury St Edmunds, seeking to prevent homelessness and alleviate poverty.

We provide a friendly welcoming place with hot food and tea/coffee every Tuesday and Friday, from 11am to 2pm at Trinity Methodist Church. Representatives from local agencies are on hand to provide our guests with help and advice. In addition, we run a spin off self-help group called Table 1 every Tuesday, from 9am to 1pm.
